Estates Leadership Team

The Estates Leadership Team provides strategic and day-to-day leadership across UCL Estates Development and Estates Operations.

Our Estate Division maintains and provides services for more than 250 buildings over 600,000 m2 in Bloomsbury and specialist sites beyond. We are over halfway through a £1.25bn capital improvement programme which includes UCL East, our second campus in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Ian Dancy
Executive Director of Operations

Ian Dancy is the Executive Director of Operations, with strategic oversight for Campus Experience & Infrastructure, which includes Estates Operations, Sustainability and Timetabling. Ian works closely with UCL’s Vice-President Operations, having previously worked as Fiona Ryland’s Chief of Staff. Before joining UCL Ian worked within the student movement and was the Chief Executive at Canterbury Christ Church, Royal Holloway and finally UCL. 

Ian works closely with Kevin Argent (Director of Estates Development), who has responsibility for space strategy and capital development. They both report into the VPO and work closely together in order to provide an aligned estates service.

Director (Estates Development)

Kevin has responsibility for development and delivery of the Estates Strategy, the Capital Programme along with Property and Space at UCL. Kevin also leads on UCL’s Major Projects Portfolio that includes UCL East on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the Institute of Neurology and Dementia Research Institute on Grays Inn Road

Kevin’s team collaborates at all levels within UCL and is responsible for all property management including landlord and tenant, lease management, rent, rates and service charges. Programme and Project management for construction projects, commercial procurement and consultant framework management, design standards, master planning, design development including developing and securing funding for our future capital plan together with the programme and project management of prioritised lifecycle and change projects.
